Nutrition labelling
and vitamins

The knowledge of the nutritional value of food is an important criteria - not only for the quality evaluation.

For many foods this information is of regulatory importance. For example in case of health claims a nutritional labelling is mandatory.

Our range of analyses in this area contains all analytical methods which are necessary for the determination of the nutritional value and for the correct compilation of the nutritional labelling.

Of course this includes vitamins as well. Because their sensitivity to light, oxygen and temperature and possibly neccessary overdose the control is essential.

The following vitamins are in our scope:

  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)

  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)

  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxin)

  • Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)

  • Folic acid

  • Niacin

  • Biotin

  • Pantothenic acid

  • Vitamin A (Retinol)

  • alpha, ß-Carotin (Provitamin A)

  • Vitamin D2/3 (Ergo-, Cholecalciferol)

  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

  • Vitamin K

Furthermore GfL is offering a large spectrum of quantitative and qualitative analysis in the field of additives. The use of additives is restricted to certain foods and also may be limited in the amount. Significant groups of additives are: colouring agents, emulsifiers, sweeteners, flavour enhancers, preservatives, gelling agents, antioxidants, humectants.
