Pesticides are not only used for crop growing but also for storage of food. They, or their metabolites, reach the human body through the food chain and drinking water. That is why their allowance and appliance is liable on strict legal terms. To protect the consumer the legislator has defined threshold values for these substances. These regulations are established by the respective countries and so far they are harmonised by the European Union or through the Codex Alimentarius.
Because of the world-wide trading with food, the examination of the compliance with the tolerance regulations does not only require high specialised analysis but also the knowledge about the components used. If one considers that world-wide more than 700 different pesticides are used, one will understand, that only some years of experience in this field can offer you the necessary security for your products.
To be always on the latest state of knowledge, we do not only track new developments very intensively in the field of analysis and the registration of new components. We also use our international contacts, which offer us the access to application lists of different countries. Thus we are able to extend our analytical spectrum constantly. Currently we detect with the different methods approximately 500 components in vegetable food.
An important part of the pesticide residue analytic are the Screening-methods. With these methods it is possible to detect most of the components. One of them is the multimethod DFG S-19, which is used since a few years. Via gaschromatography and usage of different detectors we can detect approximately 320 substances. Added is a relatively new method, a high-performance-liquid-chromatography mass-spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Currently we can detect approximately 100 substances by using this method.
Beside these screening methods we offer the following collecting- and single methods:

A complete list with all detectable components you can find in our List of methods.
Off course our analytical reports include not only the analytical results but also a legal attestation. Here we consider the national regulations and current guidelines of the European Community as well as the Codex Alimentarius.
